Golden Horse and Jade Rooster Archway ​- symbol of cultural landscape in Kunming Standing at the heart of Kunming, Golden Horse and Jade Rooster Archway was originally built in the Period of Xuande (1426 – 1435) in the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644). The east archway – Golden Horse Archway was named after its location that is near the Golden Horse Mountain. The west archway – Jade Rooster Archway is situated close to the Jade Rooster Mountain. The existing archway was rebuilt in 1998 based on the original style as the original one was pulled down during the Great Cultural Revolution (1966 – 1976).
